After 50 years downtown Ann Arbor our Kiwanis Foundation Thrift Sale needed a larger building and our Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation purchased the current building and property on North Staebler Road in 2014. Starting in 2000, we were provided temporary use of two different warehouses in south Ann Arbor to support the growing Kiwanis Thrift Sale. In 1990 the KiwanisFoundation Thrift Sale started weekly sale hours on each Saturday 9 to noon. First St., at the corner of First and Washington Streets, for Club activities and the Kiwanis Foundation Thrift Sale. In 1966 our Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation bought a building located at 200 S. Over the years the rummage sale name changed to the Kiwanis Thrift Sale. In the early years the Kiwanis rummage sales were held mostly at the National Guard Armory in downtown Ann Arbor several times each year until 1968. Proceeds from this sale are returned to the community through the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation as grants, scholarships, and gifts.
